Facilities for Women’s Prayer, Religious and Educational Activities

Jama Masjid Shaheen Bagh is also planning to provide dedicated prayer facilities for women. The design for this facility has been entrusted to an engineer, and the construction work is expected to commence shortly.

The proposed facility will enable women to offer Jumu‘ah, Eid and Taraweeh prayers at the mosque. During regular hours, the space will also be utilised for the education of girls. Separate classes for girls enrolled in the Deeni Maktab are planned, along with the appointment of female teachers. This will provide girls with better opportunities for religious education and will also remove the existing age restriction of ten years for girls’ participation.

The facility will also make it easier to provide suitable seating arrangements for women during Jamaat programmes, enabling them to participate and benefit from the mosque’s religious and educational activities.

The initiative has been appreciated in the management meeting of the Trust. People have also expressed their appreciation for the present style of the Friday sermons (Khutbahs) and emphasised that women should also have the opportunity to benefit from the mosque’s religious and reformative activities.
